The 144,000

The DayIn religious matters, sources of information available to us reveals that the majority has always been wrong.
The ones that were correct was always a very small group or the minority. Just like Noah and the other 7 persons that were on the ark.

Noah preached for 120 years that the flood was coming. The majority of the people didn’t believe him. There may have been millions of people alive at that time and they all died without knowing God. The 8 people on the ark are the only ones that made it.

The Bible tells us that the 144,000 are people who have the seal of the Living God and do 2 things. They follow God’s Commandments and follow Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17, Revelation 14:12.

The number is represented by 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel: Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin.

The Bible says in Revelation 14:4 “They are not defiled by women; for they are virgins.”
This does not mean that they are celibate (have no sexual relations), or that they are unmarried Jews.
(This would go against Paul’s teachings in 1 Tim 4: 1, 3) A woman in the book of Revelation is a symbol of a church (Rev 17.)  So the meaning is that they are not defiled by an apostate church.

The 144,000 represent a final remnant of God’s Israel in Spirit (Spiritual Israel) and will still be alive when Jesus returns in the clouds. They won’t be defiled by deceptions and false prophecies. They will have been transformed into “Spiritual Israel” (just like Jacob was transformed and his name was changed), and have come out of spiritual Babylon.  Revelation 18:4-8  They will not live like the rest of the World, God is first place in their lives.

And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:1, 2

The 144,000 will serve the same purpose as the 12 Apostles

Evidently, this great multitude who come out of great tribulation are converted under the preaching and influence of the 144,000. Shortly after Pentecost, the 12 apostles reached a great multitude, then there followed a great persecution (Acts 8:1). Shortly after the Holy Spirit is poured out on the 144,000, a great multitude will be converted and then comes the great tribulation.

We are to love our Jewish brothers and sisters, but people are wrong in keeping an eye on the middle eastern city of Israel. They are thinking just like the people that didn’t know or recognize that Jesus was talking in a spiritual sense and not a literal sense.

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit Romans 2:28,29

Remember Galatians 3:29 We are all Abraham’s seed. All true Christian’s are Spiritual Israelites. In Exodus 19:6 we see “And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”

The book of James says this: James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the 12 tribes which are scattered abroad, greetings James 1:1

Jesus repeated the history of Ancient Israel

search

The book of Matthew reveals that Jesus repeated the history of ancient Israel, point by point, and overcame where they failed. Notice these parallels between ancient Israel and of Jesus Christ:

  • In the Old Testament, a young man named Joseph had dreams and went into Egypt to preserve his family alive (Genesis 45:5). In the New Testament we find another Joseph, who likewise had dreams and then went to Egypt to preserve his family (Matthew 2:13).
  • When the young nation of Israel came out of Egypt, God called that nation “my son” in Exodus 4:22. When the baby Jesus came out of Egypt, God said, “Out of Egypt have I called my son.” Matthew 2:15.
  • When Israel left Egypt, the people went through the Red Sea. The apostle Paul says they were “baptized unto Moses … in the sea.” 1 Corinthians 10:2. Jesus was also baptized “to fulfill all righteousness,” and immediately afterward God proclaimed Him, “my beloved Son” (Matthew 3:15-17).
  • After the Israelites went through the Red Sea, they spent 40 years in the wilderness. Immediately after His baptism, Jesus was “led up of the Spirit into the wilderness” for 40 days (Matthew 4:1, 2).
  • At the end of their 40-year wilderness wandering, Moses wrote the book of Deuteronomy. At the end of Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness, He resisted Satan’s temptations by quoting three Scriptures-all from Deuteronomy!
  • In Psalm 80:8, God calls Israel a “vine” that He brought “out of Egypt.” Yet Jesus later declared, “I am the true vine.” John 15:1. In the Old Testament, the name “Israel” first applied to one man, to Jacob. It represented Jacob’s spiritual victory over sin. Even so, in the beginning of the New Testament we discover that Jesus Christ is the new Israel who came “out of Egypt.” He is the one victorious Man who overcame all sin!A New Nation
Yet there is more. Remember that the name “Israel” not only referred to Jacob, but also to his descendants, who became Israel. The same principle is seen in the New Testament.

For example, the Lord had told the ancient Israelites, “And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.” Exodus 19:6. In the New Testament, Peter applies these exact words to the church: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people.” 1 Peter 2:9.

Likewise, right after Paul’s statement in Galatians chapter 3 about Jesus being “the seed,” he then told his Gentile converts [a Gentile is any person who is not of the Jewish faith], “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29. Thus in the New Testament, the name Israel not only applies to Jesus Christ, but also to those who are born in Christ-His church! In other words, all true Christians are now God’s spiritual Israel.

    Double Vision
Have you ever been hit hard on the head and then started seeing double? Well, from what we have studied, the Christian world needs a loving bonk on the head with this New Testament truth so that more people will start “seeing double” about the subject of Israel! According to the New Testament, there are now two Israels. One group is composed of literal Israelites “according to the flesh” (Romans 9:3, 4). The other is “spiritual Israel,” composed of Jews and Gentiles who believe in Jesus Christ.

Paul wrote, “They are not all Israel, which are of Israel.” Romans 9:6. That is, not all are part of God’s spiritual Israel who are of the literal nation of Israel. Paul continued, “That is, They which are the children of the flesh [physical descendants of Abraham], these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.” Romans 9:8. The children of the flesh are only natural descendants of Abraham, but the children of the promise are counted as the true seed. Today any person-Jew or Gentile-can become a part of this spiritual nation of Israel through faith in Jesus Christ.

    God Looks on the Heart
Just as there are two Israels, there are also two kinds of Jews!

Also, the seven last plagues that are found in Revelation 15 and 16 talks about the angels that pour out the vials of God’s wrath.  It’s just before the second coming of Jesus because the seventh of the seven last plagues is synonymous with the coming of the Lord.

There’s a lot of similarity between the seven last plagues and the plagues that fell on Egypt.

The plagues fell on Egypt just before the Children of Israel were liberated from their slavery.  The plagues are going to fall on this wicked world just before Spiritual Israel, God’s people, are liberated from the world that is in bondage to sin.  And so, just before the second coming, there will be a period–based on some things in Revelation and Daniel, I have good reason to believe the period of the plagues is all going to fit within one years’ time, perhaps even just over a month.  When you look at the severity of these things, you can imagine how long the world can go on with the fresh water supply being blood, or the oceans being blood, and most of the population of the world lives either by rivers or oceans, and men being scorched with great heat.  And another reason, how long did the plagues last that fell on Job, it was just a matter of weeks when you read the context.

How long did the plagues last that fell on Egypt; again it was in the matter of within a couple months’ time, and so for these reasons, based on those stories, the plagues will probably fall just with a few months.  And it says in Revelation, “All of her plagues come within one day”, and a day in prophecy is a year.  So within a year’s time it all happens.

The intensity will be different in different parts of the world, the same way it was in Egypt.  But God promises to protect His people all through those plagues, just like He protected the Children of Israel through the plagues that fell on Egypt.  We don’t need to be afraid; that’s why we should memorize Psalm 91.

    Eight Signs of the End

Will there be an “end of the world,” or is such an idea simply the opinion of kooks who stand on street corners waving “The End is Near” signs? Believe it or not, according to the Bible, yes, there will be an end. Jesus Christ predicted, “And this gospel [Good News] of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14, emphasis added).

Are there any legitimate and observable “signs” of this approaching finale? Once again, the answer is yes. While many supposed “signs” appear daily on the covers of America’s sensational tabloids, here are eight true biblical signs worth listing:

    1. Great Earthquakes: Jesus Christ predicted, “And there will be great earthquakes in various places…. (Luke 21:11). Such quakes will result in tremendous loss of life, and are constitute one of the signs of the approaching Day of the Lord. Jesus continued, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

    2. Out-of-control Violence: Again, Jesus predicted, “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be before the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:37). What was it like in Noah’s day? Here’s the answer: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence” (Genesis 6:11). “And God said to Noah, the end of all flesh is come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth” (Genesis 6:13). Thus “violence” was rampant in Noah’s day, just like today.

    3. Out-of-control Sex: Again, Jesus predicted, “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot…Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed” (Luke 17:28, 30). What was it like in Lot’s day before God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah? Here’s the answer: “Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire” (Jude 7). Thus “fornication” (sex outside of marriage), and “going after strange flesh” (homosexuality), were the primary sins of those ancient cities. It’s a no-brainer that through television, Playboy, prostitution, Internet pornography, etc., our world is experiencing an unprecedented deluge of sexual perversion.

    4. Global Environmental Crisis: The Bible reveals that when God finally drops the curtain on human history, He will finally “destroy them that destroy the earth” (Revelation 11:18). In other words, before the end, mankind will be destroying the very planet we live on. This implies a global environmental crisis resulting from the growth of mega-cities, deforestation, a disappearing ozone layer, and earth-damaging man made pollutants.

    5. Increasing Stress, Confusion, Heart Disease: Again, Jesus warned, “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things that are coming upon the earth” (Luke 21:25, 26). People are stressed-out everywhere, confusion reigns, and the Number 1 cause of death is heart disease. The Master saw it coming, that’s why He predicted global “distress,” “perplexity” and “men’s hearts failing them for fear.” Fear also raises blood cholesterol.

    6. Increasing Knowledge: The prophetic book of Daniel declares, “But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (Daniel 12:4). This passage reveals planet Earth will finally enter its “time of the end.” At the same time, “knowledge shall be increased.” In our modern era – more than any period in recorded history – knowledge has increased beyond previous generations.

    7. False Teaching and Global Religious Confusion: Paul predicted, “the time will come” when the majority “shall turn their ears away from the truth and shall turn to fables” (2 Timothy 4:4). God’s final book – the Revelation – predicts the rise of a global, multi-layered, conglomerate religious system called “Babylon,” which literally means, “confusion.” Heaven’s end-time message proclaims, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication” (Revelation 14:8). This mysterious, highly symbolic prophecy reveals that “all nations” will become drunk with “Babylon’s wine.” Such “wine” is the worldwide false teachings of deceptive religions that lead away from the simplicity of the pure gospel of Jesus Christ.

    8. The Global Preaching of the Gospel: “And this gospel [the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ] shall be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14). With the aid of radio, television, the Internet, and satellite networks, God’s message of salvation through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross is now spreading across planet Earth. Thus, in the midst of Bad News, there’s Good News! We have a Savior who loves us, gave His life for us, rose from the dead for us, and will someday return to take us home (see John 14:1-3).
